Leftovers

As a kid I hated "leftovers".  The reason they were left over was no one wanted them.  That's not the case  with fabric.

Last year I had some scraps I felt were too good to throw out and with reference to the frugal patchworkers of previous generations I thought I'd try to use them.  I made lots of these

I had an idea and put them together but they didn't really appeal so if you look closely you may see some threads still at the edges.  There are quite a few more where these came from and it would be a shame to toss them out so I am trying to come up with an alternative design to use them.

Speaking of leftovers I seem to have accumulated lots of 1.5" strips so I thought I'd try a slightly different version of "Muffet's Way".  If you do look back, it is the quilt in the middle picture of that post.  Below, I have used reproduction fabrics in smaller blocks

I have been working on it this weekend and would like to have 25 blocks all sewn up by Tuesday.  Scrap quilts appeal to me above all other styles, even though I love album quilts.  It feels good to avoid throwing leftovers out.

Oh please don't toss these. They would make fabulous flower petals or could be used as funky leaves on an applique border to a pieced center. So many ideas, as they are soooo cute.

I see those pieced leaves/petals in your first photo and see an orla keily inspired quilt but with striped leaves mixed with solids. Love your scrap Muffet's Way - I think I love scrap quilts most because you can fit even more fabric and colour in!

I can't tell you how much I love those tear drops. I'd love to see what you end up doing with them.

I see flowers with snake "sashing." Or a fabulous border. Keep making them! Your spiderweb is looking great. The fussy cut centers really draw me in.

I love the tear drop shapes. It's so different from what you normally see in scrappy quilts. I will be really interested in seeing how you end up using them. How big are they?

Oh I love those petals! My first thought was what Sharon said - great big whimsical flowers with funky stems and leaves. And I like them like you've laid them out on your design board - never seen anything like that! And your Muffet's Way quilt - dee-lish!

I agree with the other commenters. My first thought was flowers petals on a cushion or two. They're lovely, don't throw them out.

those petals are adorable.
I hope you use them in a quilt soon! I can see them as a border with a vine...or actually 4 together points facing to the center and maybe an appliqued circle in the middle!
endless possibilities I am sure you will come up with something wonderful.
love , love the muffets way quilt, love how you made the centers happen like that and uslng that fabric for the outside , perfect!!!
off to read the other post. Good luck finishing it by Tuesday would love to see the whole quilt
