Uh Oh

My quilt is called "Hexagonia"  and it may well have a hex on it.  The pattern is evolving as I go.  Its principle rule is that it must be symmetrical.

I need another 84 background hexagons (5/8").  So many background hexies weren't in the plan, but then I decided to do some fussy cutting and ... it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Now I have well and truly placed myself in category Type II because all the fabric I have left is pictured below

Will I make it?  I don't know but stayed tuned for the result and a giveaway.

This happened to me on my hexagon quilt. It was nerve wracking. Fortunately a friend had some in her stash because I did need 12 more hexagons. I hope you find you have enough to finish.

Liz - Your quilt is gorgeous!! I can't wait to see if you have enough!! What pattern and fabric line is the short piece? Maybe one of us out here in quilt land has a piece we can send you!! Kris

So, when do you decide if there is enough or not? I am lousy at math but I think I would rather cut those suckers right now and see if there will be a crisis later. If there isn't a problem I rest easy. If there is, I have time to think up a plan "B".

I'm with Julie, I would cut them out now and if you are short do an online search for some more now. At least this is a hand project so there isn't as much waste!!

It's such a beautiful project :0)

I am the friend of Carol G. who posted the third comment - I certainly hope that you have a friend with some of the fabric you need - because it doesn't look like it is going to be enough. But you never know - I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Hi Liz,
I am doing a Suzy Miller clamshell workshop at Quiltsmith tomorrow and as I was gathering fabric for the class I came across a fat quarter of the fabric you need. My piece is 1840's Birds and Basics. I'd be happy to pass it on if that's the one you are after. I'm not sure how to contact you though! Perhaps I could leave it with the girls at Quiltsmith. Give a shout out if your piece comes up short. The hexies look fabulous!
